The Larder Guild is where all of your homemade ingredients and kitchen systems live.
Inside you’ll find the building blocks that make cooking easier —
stocks and broths, syrups, powders, extracts, ferments, infused oils, compound butters,
cultured dairy, herb blends, preserved produce, tomato preparations, rendered fats, and more.
You’ll also find your freezer-as-a-pantry method, organization guides, waste-not systems,
seasonal larder planning, and the tools and provisions you rely on every day.
If it belongs in the pantry, freezer, or preserving kitchen— it lives in the Larder Guild.

If it’s a recipe, a reference, or a printable — it lives in the HWL Compendium.

About Me
Hi, I'm Tamatha.
I live on a 4 acre homestead in southern Virginia. I grew up in NYC in the 70's dreaming of life in the country. I was that weird kid that would ask all the other kids what they had for dinner. I would rush home from school to catch the Frugal Gourmet on television. I got my first cookbook when I was 12.
I drove my Mom crazy with my pleading. She surprised me with a trip to Barnes and Noble to select that book. I still have it! If I had any sense I would have chosen the Frugal Gourmet cookbook. I have no idea why I didn't. Maybe I was overwhelmed by the selection. I made up for that error, I have a massive cookbook library complete with every book the Frugal gourmet ever wrote. I later found out he was not a good guy, was in big trouble and was fired from television. I was shocked!
A few years later I found Martha Stewart and never looked back. From Martha I learned that home was not the same as house. I spent many many hours dreaming of feathering my country nest. Hunting for vintage finds, growing a serious garden, setting a glorious table, having chickens and the best part, a well equipped kitchen where I can cook and bake to my hearts content.
It was NOT easy getting here. Finally, we have this place. It's on 4 acres, it was neglected and bland. Breathing life into this place will be quite an adventure!

![🍞 Bread Baking 101 is here!
In this first episode of my bread series, I’m sharing my go-to buttery dough — soft enough for the perfect sandwich loaf and sturdy enough to hold a beautiful cinnamon swirl.
Swipe to see both versions, and yes… it tastes even better than it looks.
This dough is forgiving, versatile, and beginner-friendly (no bread shame here — we’ve all made bricks before 😅). I’ll walk you through it step-by-step and share tips that took me 15 years to learn the hard way.

Do you like your cinnamon swirl with raisins, or are you anti-raisin like my husband?
